Learning about terpenes allows you to have a deeper understanding and appreciation for Cannabis, no different than a fine wine connoisseur. We have outlined some common questions regarding terpenes to further your education around cannabis flowers.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are aromatic oils found in many plants that produce a distinctive smell and taste.

Terpenes offer an array of flavour profiles ranging from more herbal, earthy notes to fruity and citrusy and even savoury smells of cheese and spices.

How many Terpenes flavor profiles can be found in cannabis?

In a cannabis plant, there are over 100 terpenes unique to the plant and some of the most present are: Linalool, Limonene, Pinene, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, Terpinolene. Despite the amazing flavours and smells, terpenes also can enable varied euphoric experiences.

What is your favourite flavor profile?

My preferred terpene flavour/profile would be linalool as it offers a delicious fruitiness and floral fragrance. I enjoy this profile due to the euphoric properties of relaxation and calming effects.

Why are terpenes so important?

Terpenes are so important, as it gives each individual cannabis cultivator its own identity and characteristics.

What is more important, THC level or Terpene level?

I believe both THC and terpene levels should go hand in hand. A high THC can provide a long lasting or more intense high potentially, however the terpenes can also enhance the euphoric experience though adding more flavour and taste and potentially varied euphoric experience.

When picking your cannabis of choice, terpenes is a great way to help categorize the flavour and smell you're looking for!
