Up In...Vapour?
Thinking of vaping as an alternative to traditional smoking? You may be asking yourself a few questions before making the change, so to hopefully make things easier, I have answered a few below.
Why Vape?
It's discreet, easy for small dosing (smoke as much or as little as you want, when you want, without the commitment of a full joint), convenient, and you can customize the experience to make it your own! With the many options between vapes and batteries, it can be pretty overwhelming to get started. Let's break it down below.
Vapour vs. Smoke
Whether it's a concentrate or flower, if you're vaping it produces just that; vapour. What's the difference between vapour and smoke? For starters, when vaping you are not burning a substance so you are creating very little-to no smoke. Cannabis smoke contains tar, which is what causes that dreaded lingering, heatbag smell! Cannabis vapour, however, does NOT contain tar, allowing you to be much more discreet and odour-free! Not to mention the fewer health risks there are with vaping compared to burning and inhaling smoke.
But What Battery is Right for Me?
Deciding what battery is right for you can be a whole new challenge on its own. First, you need to decide if you want to purchase a dry herb vape or a cannabis oil vape (or both!). For simplicity sake, we are going to talk about a few of the different options for oils/concentrates. You may have heard the term "510 cart" or "Pax pod" thrown around before, but what does it mean? Whether you decide to purchase a 510 battery or a Pax Era will determine whether you will need to purchase a 510 cart or a Pax pod. 510 batteries range in different shapes and sizes, button or auto-draw, price and battery life, while Pax has 2 options: Pax Era and Pax Era Pro. I always say, if you are committed to vaping then I suggest investing in a better battery. Otherwise, you may find yourself spending more in the long run on what you thought was only going to be a $10 battery. That being said, the cheaper batteries are definitely a great investment as well for someone who is a beginner and testing the waters. From there, it's just a matter of deciding whether you want an autodraw battery (activated solely by pulling) or a button-activated battery, which usually offers 3-5 various heat settings.
There Are So Many 510 Carts, Where Do I Start?
With a plethora of 510 carts available on the market right now it can make it a bit challenging to decide which one to try first. The good thing about all the options, though, is there is generally something for everyone! You can customize your experience by finding the right potency, strain, and flavour that peaks your interest. I always ask if someone typically likes something more fruity and/or flavoured (added terpenes), more raw and natural (full spectrum), or balanced 1:1(THC:CBD), and then from there we play around with price and potency.
